My 5K Challenge

After discovering Pinterest, I was inspired by all the amazing pins of organized closets, mouth watering foods, and beautifully decorated rooms.   After pinning many of these images, I quickly realized I didn't want my Pinterest boards to be a collection of pretty pictures.  I wanted my boards to be true inspiration boards that inspired action, not just wishful thinking.  I originally started this blog to share the projects I complete that are inspired by Pinterest and to encourage myself and others to try new things.  Lately I've been working from just one or two of my Pinterest boards, specifically my craft boards and recipe boards.  Don't worry,  I'll still be sharing crafts and recipes, but that's not the sole focus of this blog.  I have many other things on my boards besides crafts and recipes and I'm ready to set a new challenge for myself and start working on a new Pinterest board.  It's time to start working from the long ignored fitness board.

I'm 5'2" and 121 pounds so I'm not over weight or obese.  However, I'm not healthy and physically fit.  I have elevated cholesterol levels, I feel tired all the time, just doing simple things gets me winded and short of breath.  The point of this challenge is not to see how skinny I can get or how much weight I can loose.  (No thinsperation posts here!)  My goal is to gain and maintain a healthier lifestyle and get in shape.  To do that, I'm setting a goal for myself to  run, walk, FINISH a 5k run (that's 3.1 miles) on May 4, 2014.  I plan on participating in a charity run called Run For The Zoo that raises money for my city's zoo and biopark.

I have to admit that I was hesitant to share this on my blog.  I've never done anything like this before.  I sure hope I can do it!

Inspired by this pin for the Couch to 5K running program.
