How To Organize Vacation Photos

How To Organize Vacation Photos What do you do with your vacation pictures?  Do they stay on your phone or in a folder on your laptop never to be seen again?  Well I'm going to show you a great way to organize your vacation photos and get them out of digital storage!

How To Organize Vacation Photos

I'm old enough to remember the days when you had to send film away to be developed and then you'd put the developed pictures in a photo album.  Now, everyone has their pictures digitally stored on their phone, on Instagram, or on their laptop.  Don't get me wrong, digital photography is great!  I love being able to see my pictures right away, share them instantly, and delete bad pictures with the push of a button.  The downside of digital photography is that often once pictures get stored somewhere, they're never seen again.

Would you like to free up some space on your hard drive?  Wouldn't you like to know that your most important family pictures are backed-up and safely stored?  It's time to get those pictures off your camera, out of digital storage, and enjoy them!

A few years ago, I started making photo albums for each of our family vacations and I used Shutterfly to help me do it.  It's a great way to keep photos from each vacation organized and easily accessible and the professional photo books from Shutterfly look so much nicer than pictures in those ugly old fashioned plastic albums!

It's taken awhile, but I finally got around to making a photo album for our trip to Brussels, Paris, and Amsterdam as well as our southwest road trip.  I really enjoy putting these vacation photo books together because I get a chance to remember the trip as I'm choosing the pictures for each book.

I love using Shutterfly to make my photo books because it's so easy to use and I can design my books exactly the way I want them to look.  Shutterfly has so many choices of book sizes, styles, designs, themes, fonts, and colors.

Not only is Shutterfly's book editing program really easy to use, but the quality of the books are excellent. They are nicely bound and have exceptional imaging and print quality.

And you can upload as many pictures as you want to Shutterfly.  When you sign up for a free Shutterfly account, you'll get free unlimited picture storage!  That means even if you don't make a book, your pictures are still backed up and safe.  If your laptop crashes or you lose your phone, you still have all your pictures!

I also used Shutterfly to print pictures of some of my favorite trips for the gallery wall in my living room because two of the frames needed large format prints (larger than 8x10).

  2. I have used both Shutterfly and Winkflash. They aren't the only places I have my photos backed up, but I love knowing they are there.

I really like your wall gallery. I confess that instead of looking in photo books, I often just like to look at things on the wall or on my computer. I do have a photo book and am considering doing one for my wedding -- I have a scrapbook for my wedding, but it's a bit imperfect and a photo book like this would be nice.
Anyway, thanks for sharing at the Retro Re-Pin Party, Bonnie.

    1. I haven't heard of Winkflash, but I have used Picaboo and Snapfish before. Shutterfly is still my favorite. I like the idea of making a book with your wedding photos. I've made books with pictures of the grandkids for the grandparents and they loved them!

  4. Great tips! I love Shutterfly! I am going to go on today and make albums for my kids. Last year I hand scrapbooked our photos, and my kids wanted to scrapbook theirs, too, but they never did! So now I am going to Shutterfly those photos, so they won't miss out on those memories! Thanks for sharing this at the A Little Bit of Everything Link Up Party!

  13. It's like you read my mind Bonnie. I was only thinking of needing to do this last night. My photos are all over the place. I think I preferred it when we had the film to be processed. At least you had to do something with the photos then and there. Now they just stay on my computer for years to come! LOL Thanks so much for linking up to Thriving on Thursdays. Always good to see you. I'm featuring this one at tomorrow's party.
