Book Review: The Five People You Meet in Heaven
The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom is the fictional story of Eddie, an 83 year old maintenance worker at an amusement park. Mitch Albom is an exceptional writer. He so artfully crafts Eddie's character, that he seems a very believable and real person. The author's skill is also evident as the details of Eddie's entire life unfold in this short story (less than 200 pages.)
A different view of the afterlife is presented in this book. The story begins with Eddie's accidental death while working at the amusement park. When he arrives in heaven, there are no angels or Garden of Eden. Instead, Eddie meets five different people who help explain to him the events of his life, the meaning of those events, and how they are connected. This is a very poignant story and even thought I tried not to cry, the last chapter was difficult to read through tears.
This book was recommended to me by a friend and I'm recommending it too! It's an absolute must read gem of a book.
