Pintester Movement - Dirty Girl Scout

I love Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies.  Who doesn't?  Just look at the ingredients!

So  when I saw this recipe for a Dirty Girl Scout from This Bottle of Vodka on Pinterest I knew I had to try it.  Here's what you need to make it:  Kahlua, Vodka, Irish Creme (I used generic - nothing but the best in our house!) and creme de menthe.
  •  1 shot Bailey’s Irish Cream
  •  1 1/2 - 2 shots vodka
  •  1 shot White Creme de Menthe
  •  1 shot kahlua

Please do NOT make the same mistake I made and buy GREEN creme de menthe or your drink will look like this putrid concoction:

Please be sure to buy WHITE creme de menthe so that your drink will look like this:

My reaction to both drinks was GROSS! GROSS! GROSS!  Too bitter for me.  I'd rather just have the box of Girl Scout cookies!  I'm also stuck with a whole bottle of green creme de menthe.

  1. Love it :) I remember in high school someone offered me this drink and I LOVED it, like, I could practically taste the cookie crumbs. But I have never been able to recreate it well. And yeah, Green should only be used for the once-a-year Shamrock Shake, nothing else. :P

  2. I'm pretty sure green creme de menthe is of the devil. I have a bottle of it that I've had since the beginning of time, and it only comes out when I'm already drunk and getting "creative" as the bartender. ;)

  3. That's a lot of shots! I'd be on the floor. The recipe sounds delicious though.

  4. Aww, I am sorry it didn't come out well. This is why I am always afraid to try new drinks.

  8. In theory it sounds really good, because Kahlua is my favorite, and I like Irish Cream in my coffee, and mint anything is never bad. I'm so so sorry you weren't able to even get a buzz on from it:(

  9. Add some Chocolate syrup to it. That's the kicker! It adds some sweetness and cuts the bitterness, and gives it a nice brown color. It's also that chocolate that makes it taste more like a thin mint. I drank a lot of those in college!

  10. I drink these at the bar and seem to recall being told they were made with Bailey's, creme de menthe, and creme de cacao. I can't figure out for the life of me why someone would make one with Kahlua?? What does coffee have to do with a thin mint?! Sorry I don't have measurements for you, but, ya know, if you're feeling adventurous... ;)
