Slow Cooker Swiss Chicken FAIL

I'm a positive person and I try to keep things positive here on my blog.  I really like publishing pretty pictures and the nice results of my projects.   I also want to be honest with readers (all three of them!) and that means sharing my mistakes, which is somewhat difficult for a perfectionist like me.

The whole point of this blog is to try new things and hopefully encourage others to try new things as well.  Sometimes, when you try new things, they just don't work the way you planned.

For the most part, I've had some really good successes with things I've tried from Pinterest.  I've found great craft projects, home improvement ideas, and some delicious recipes.  My list of Pinterest fails is thankfully short and the few fails I've had were completely my fault.

Short List of Pinterest Fails

Recently I tried this crock pot recipe from Six Sister's Stuff.

Looks good doesn't it?

I got home from work, looked in the crock pot with anticipation, and just had to laugh because I knew it was going to be terrible . . .

. . . and I was right!  The stuffing was burned and the chicken was dry.  The whole mess just looked completely unappetizing!

Just like my previously mentioned Pinterest fails, this one was my fault.  I got up around 5:30 - 6:00 a.m. to make this before I left for work and I think it's just not a good idea to try to read anything and cook that early in the morning before I'm awake.  I didn't pay any attention to the cooking time which is only 4-6 hours on low.  Mine cooked on low all day while I was at work so it was probably more like 8-9 hours which was just way too long.

We all had a good laugh about it and found something else for dinner.  I may try this recipe again making sure to be completely awake and coherent enough to use the correct cooking time.  Meanwhile, I'll just put it on my list of Pinterest fails (which is sure to get longer!)

Have you tried anything new recently?  (from Pinterest or otherwise?)  Was it a failure or success?  Let me know - I'd love to hear about it!

  2. Oh no:(. I've had mostly good luck with Pinterest as well. Crockpot chex mix just wasn't as tasty as the baked in the oven recipe I use.

  3. Oh well, there will always be recipes, crafts that are epic fails lol! I tried a Martha Stewart recipe that was suppose to be so good that she got from a baker I love & it was the most unflavorful cookies I ever tried. We thought it would be great( making cookies together for the holidays)being on MS & from the baker, followed to a T & FAIL! I took it off my Pinterest board maybe I should of made a board don't try these lol. Thanks for linking up & sharing your other post @ DearCreatives.com Hope to see you again soon!

  4. Ha! I just love my slow cooker but when something somehow fails...and it's cooked all day...just seems to make it worse somehow! I have a Pinterest board called 'Cooked it = FAIL' =) I also wanted to let you know that I've nominated you for a Liebster Blog Award! You can see it here: http://day2daysupermom.blogspot.com/2013/04/liebster-award-sisterhood-saturday.html Have a great day!!
