Happy Hour #1: Vodka Gimlet

I had a really quiet, relaxing two week break from work during the holidays.  This was my first week back at work and a week at work really reminds me how much I enjoy the weekends.

So I thought I'd start something new.  Every Friday I'll kick off the weekend by sharing a drink I found and tried from Pinterest.  This week it's a vodka gimlet.

I'm a big fan of Mad Men (check out my Mad Men Pinterest board!)  Fans of Mad Men know that the vodka gimlet is a popular drink on the show.  I certainly don't drink as much as the characters at Sterling Cooper, but I've never had a gimlet, Netflix mailed me the next disk in Mad Men season 5, and it's Friday, so a vodka gimlet it is!

 

Wow!  I can't believe anyone drinks this!  It was so sour, my mouth wouldn't unpucker for a full minute!  I added about a quarter cup of simple syrup and that helped a bit.  It tasted a little more like a very sour limeade.  Glad I tried it, but it's not my favorite drink!
