Beef & Broccoli
Beef & broccoli is one of my favorite dishes to get when ordering Chinese food. Honestly, this recipe is even better than Chinese take out! Restaurants often over-cook the broccoli so it ends up mushy and sometimes the food is just drowning in too much sauce. Since you're doing the cooking, you get to decide when the broccoli is done (I like my broccoli a little on the crunchy side) and this recipe makes just the right amount of sauce.
This recipe is from Rainy Day Gal and you can go here for easy to follow step-by-step directions and recipe.
I've made beef and broccoli before, but I like this recipe better than the recipe I've been using. My beef and broccoli is usually too salty. This recipe uses 1/2 cup of soy sauce. I thought that sounded like a lot, but when I read the ingredients a little more carefully, I realized that you need to use reduced sodium soy sauce. I didn't have any so I just used 1/4 cup soy sauce and 1/4 cup water and hoped for the best.
This got thumbs up from the whole family and I will certainly be making it again.

ReplyDeleteI just had the takeout version of this tonight and was thinking I'd like to make a homemade version instead... It always seems the beef to broccoli ratio is waaaaay off, at least in my opinion. So glad I found you via the Mad Skills Party. :)
