I think this recipe must be called “crazy cake” because it’s crazy that the recipe actually works. There are no eggs, milk, or butter in the recipe and the ingredients are mixed in the same pan that the cake is cooked in. It’s also crazy easy to make!
This cake is also known as “Depression cake,” because the limited ingredients required made this recipe something people could make on a tight budget. Budget conscious cooks today can still appreciate and enjoy this cake.
Personally, I like this cake recipe because it's fast and easy to make, doesn’t require a lot of clean up, and is great to make when you have a chocolate craving, but don’t have a lot of ingredients on hand in the kitchen. I'm thinking that without the eggs, milk, and butter, this is a healthier version of chocolate cake too!
I liked this cake recipe, even though it’s not a particularly rich or moist cake. It’s not even very sweet, but I frosted it with a little bit of store bought chocolate frosting and it was a really nice dessert. It got thumbs up from the rest of the family too!
