Fabric Covered Notebooks

A simple DIY tutorial for making fabric covered notebooks. No paint, no measuring, no mess. Only takes a few minutes to complete. An inexpensive and stylish way to stay organized.

Not only am I a pin junkie, I'm also a list junkie!  I'm constantly writing lists and notes to myself and as a result, I have pieces of paper everywhere.  I'm trying to get more organized and tame the paper clutter.  I started by sorting and filing my lists in some notebooks I had.  My old notebooks were still in good condition, but they had writing on them that wouldn't come off and weren't pretty to look at.

Here's what you will need:
fabric
scissors
spray adhesive
metal label holder

I used the extra fabric and spray adhesive I had leftover from my  closet door makeover.  The spray adhesive isn't permanent so I had to use a glue gun in a few places to help the corners stick.  You can see there's ink on the inside of the notebook too.  Perfect for covering up!

1. Open the notebook and lay it flat on top of the fabric.  Measure and cut 1-inch around each side of the notebook. Make 4 cuts in the fabric along the spine where it needs to bend, 2 cuts on the top and 2 cuts on the bottom.

2. Spray the back side of the fabric with adhesive. Wait a minute or so to let adhesive become tacky. Wrap the fabric over the notebook folding excess fabric over edges of notebook.

3.  Cut two square pieces of fabric, spary, and adhere on the inside of notebook to cover.

It only took an hour to cover two notebooks.  They look much prettier now and coordinate with my office.  The only thing I had to buy were the metal label holders.  I love using what I already have to make something that looks nice!

This project was inspired by pins from my Organizing board.

  8. Which looks really wonderful. I wonder I never thought of that one before, having spent all those time dealing with these types of fabric I should have at least had an inkling on how to. But thank you for your valuable input on this matter. It's appreciated.

  9. I love these! I make lots of lists also, and just today I added to my list: "Finish cookbook binders". I have lots of cookbooks that I started rebinding into notebooks because they were falling apart. But they are not very pretty. I want to cover them. Now I know how :) thanks for sharing!
